In one of Taipei’s most cosmopolitan neighborhoods, Hotel Proverbs takes minimalistic design and pairs it with the utmost in personalized service while adding a dash of hedonism in the process. Fronted by a rectilinear façade of black mesh, the hotel references the surreal scenes of Goya’s “Proverbios” through abundant copper, natural wood, leather, stone, and delicate fabrics. The postmodern structure is topped by a rooftop pool overlooking the lively Da’an District, and plays host to the TK Seafood & Steak restaurant that employs a harbor-to-aquarium-to-plate process, as well as a cocktail bar led by prize-winning mixologists serving old-fashioned Taiwanese concoctions and more experimental drinks.
While the L’Idiot Bakery tempts guests from their king-size beds with freshly baked breads, pastries, and cakes, the butler services mean that one need not lift a finger to enjoy what’s on offer. The 42-room hotel also features a multifunctional event room for up to 32 guests, ideal for business meetings in the center of Taipei’s newly developed Eastern District.
View RoomsDetails including accented wooden decor, furnished with sturdy copper and leather elements are what make PROVERBS the epitome of modern day luxury living. The hotel is set behind a dark patchwork mesh façade designed by noted architect Ray Chen. The industrial, postmodern structure is officially certified as a “green building” and many surrounding trees can be seen through strips of polished glass. In addition to the green spaces endemic to the hotel, the geometric and mysterious form of the building adds intrigue to an otherwise sternly minimalist structure.
